I'm going blind!
Hey guys...
Is there a way to change these colors (as a user?)
or can you change the colors on this forum/website for something that is easier on the eyes... Light text on dark background is bad... let along the worst of it all being white on black.
It hurts... and stops me from doing much reading on the site, let alone joining in the conversation.

I don't think so, but you can always change the color of your own post.
Cheers.

Re: I'm going blind!
Yeah.. It was more of a suggestion (some people seemed to be suggesting stuff.. so I figured I would too.. it seems like a lot of the WoW sites are white on black (wow forums, wowhead.com, etc) or green on black etc... which is really weird and makes it hard on the readers. (especially in a forum where extended reading is necessary.
I was kinda hoping you could change it yourself but I was doubtful =O
Maybe they will make a change!

Meh, I find the white text on black much easier to read and easier on the eyes than black text on a white background...

I'd like to change it, but we can't with the admin interface. We'll try and make sure we can on the permanent home.

I like the white on black... I run black background all the time! =) But of course no matter what it is everyone won't be happy. =)
Re: I'm going blind!
hmm.. maybe I'm in the wrong here..
I'm a web developer myself and I know that readership/conversion is higher when we are darker text on a lighter shade of a background area.. but that's a different market. Maybe this market is different and I'm a minority here =). Although a logical argument could be said that the people who don't like it aren't responding because they've given up trying to read in depth and join the conversation.
Either way thanks for atleast listening/responding to the suggestion!

No you aren't entirely in the wrong. Studies have shown that sites get more responses from light backgrounds with dark text and when reading from left to right, instead of using centered text. However they do tend to be a different target market than the average gamer. From a gaming standpoint they tend to like darker backgrounds. A more business or traditional site will tend to use lighter background, darker text.Outlier wrote:hmm.. maybe I'm in the wrong here..

Hopefully with the new forums (these are temporary) that they set up, we will have the option for skin choices. Then they can create a couple of skin options that will still integrate and flow nicely with their website but give the user the ability to choose a more comfortable setting.

Any update on the potential date for a permanent home?Benhameen wrote:I'd like to change it, but we can't with the admin interface. We'll try and make sure we can on the permanent home.
