Forum Avatar?
I've logged in, checked my profile, but have been unable to find an area relating to browsing/uploading an image to use as a forum avatar. Could someone please enlighten me?
Thanks,

Re: Forum Avatar?
Benhameen posted here, that the forum avatar's were a mistake. Whether that means they aren't allowing them at all or doing a stock set up like UDE had, and that's it. I'm not sure on that. So there might be some changes to that.
Re: Forum Avatar?
I also am having a problem finding a place to place my avatar. ( seeing as this is the first forum i have ever joined)
Could someone help me do this, because well i would like to bring some life to my profile!

If you click this link:

You should be able to change your avatar. Apparently the forum host broke this yesterday during a software update.

I've got my smiley back and it's one of the standard avatars, so I think you allowed the gallery again?

Re: Forum Avatar?
Since I can't figure out how to reduce the size of my regular .gif by half in GIMP, I guess I will show my minis love instead.

Size as in bytes, or size as in width & height?

bytes. It's an 18 frame 150x150 image that runs at about 125kb. Every time I rescale it (multiple ways) and save it, it ends up being 50kb larger - I think I am doing something that makes the interlacing more complicated/larger.

Yeah, that was my first attempt. I think I scaled it from 63x63 to 50x50 and it still added 50kb to the image. I also tried making the image smaller, but the size still went back up to 175k. So, I know enough to do some moderate changes, but I know very little about .gifs.
That said, the image would only be useful as I use it on about every forum I am in, barring that, the current one is probably more appropriate given the context of this forum .

Re: Forum Avatar?
GIF isn't the best format for a photo image. PNG or JPG is better and will yield a smaller file size at the same quality.

My initial reaction was to be a bit snarky (in good humor of course), but I will forgo that. It's an 18 frame animation, jpg and png files cannot contain the might that is a .gif animation without some sort of script or creating a .apng file that I doubt the forums would even support.
Edit: I chopped it all to hell, but hey, consistency. Thanks for the concern!
